![]() Religion: As of this Wednesday- Ash Wednesday, we will begin our Lenten journey. Our Ash Wednesday Liturgy will take place on Wednesday, February 14th at 9:30 a.m. in our gymnasium. All are welcome to attend. As we approach Ash Wednesday, students will hear and reflect upon the Gospel from this past Sunday where Jesus cures a leper. Students will also explore what the season of Lent is all about through readings and activities from our Growing In Faith, Growing In Christ program. We will also continue to hear about more Fruits of the Spirit and think about ways we can live them out in our daily lives. Here is the short video on the the Fruit of the Spirit- Self-Control that students viewed and reflected on last week. Literacy: *Listening to and Reading Narratives *Responding to questions about texts using proof from the text and our own ideas *Retelling Narrative Texts using the Go Map *Author's Purpose *Author's Message *Valentine Poems *Valentine Research ![]() Go Map ![]() Math: *Attributes of 2D shapes (number of vertices, number of sides, equal length sides, number and type of angles, lines of symmetry) *Parallelograms *Exploring relationships between 2D and 3D shapes *Solving problems involving 2D and 3D shapes ![]() Science: Last week students enthusiastically created blueprint designs to create a bridge for a character named Nanabush from a First Nations folk tale that they heard last week. They were only given straws and masking tape to build their bridges and their bridges had to hold the weight of Nanabush and all of the fish he caught (7 stacked bean bags). Their designs and bridges were impressive! Students already know that the structures they build must be strong and stable! This week: *Read, Record and Wonder- Structures and Forces - how structures and forces are involved in the Olympics *Maker challenges- building strong and stable structures- Nanabush ![]() Physical Education: Students built their strength, endurance and balance by moving through the many different obstacle courses provided by our friends from Jungle Sport! They sure showed a lot of character as they climbed, hopped over hoops, swung and soared! An exciting time was had by all! This week we will continue to work on our badminton skills.
