Today the third Advent candle was lit. The pink candle represents joy and reminds us to wait in joyful hope for Jesus' birth on Christmas day. Students continue listen to and summarize in their own words bible stories about the main characters in the Christmas story (Isaiah, Mary and the Angel Gabriel, Joseph, Baby Jesus and the Wise Men). This week students will also hear the Gospel from this past Sunday. Thank you to all who have so genereously donated to our Family Advent Hampers. Please remember to bring in your donated items this week. As well, should you be in a position where you have 'more to spare' this Advent Season, please feel free to send in anything you think our families would appreciate. Family 1 - Mom, Boy 5, Girl 3 Family 2 - Mom, Dad, Boy 5 (size6), Boy 4, Girl 3, Baby Boy 1 (size 18-24 months) Sunday marks the Second Sunday in Advent where we light the candle of peace. This week students will hear the Gospel from Sunday where John the Baptist is sent by God to tell the people to prepare the way for the coming of the Lord. Students have already written about the Prophet Isaiah's role in the Advent and Nativity story and this week they will spend time reading about and reflecting upon John the Baptist's role in this special story within the time of Advent. Student will also write about how they will prepare the way for Jesus to make it to their hearts on Christmas and how they can bring peace to their classroom, school, home and wider communities. Last week we gathered as a grade three community to celebrate the first week of Advent and we will gather once again this week to hear scriptures, sing, pray and reflect about the second week of Advent.
