You all get a virtual high-five for learning online and doing a fantastic job with it! We understand this situation is not easy for many, but we are so impressed by all the wonderful work we have seen so far. We will be emailing you every Sunday evening. Our Workspace will be published Sunday evening as well, so parents who wish to may peruse it before Monday can do so. Workspaces look long due to their layout. We have put in small tasks for Language and Math that should not take your child too long to complete. Remember there are always extras for your child to do if you wish. Notes: 1. Hapara Workspace: Each week will get a new Workspace, but previous weeks will remain online for review. This week’s Workspace is called “Week of April 20th ”. Please remember to work on documents directly from the Hapara Workspace (in your child's ocsb account). Exit the document then click “Submit” on the Hapara Workspace once you are done. 2. Student Work Review: We have been reviewing student work and leaving comments on the side for them to read. This shows that we have seen it and allows students to know if they are on the right track. Sometimes we may send it back to the students so they can add to their work. 3. Next Google Meet: Our next Google Meet will be Wednesday, April 22nd @ 1 p.m. Information about how to access was sent home previously and will be included in our email. 4. Email Scams: Please be cautious when opening and responding to emails from unfamiliar senders. Unsafe emails have been reported by OCSB faculty and students. Please see attached picture for an example of such email scams. French - Your child will have a French Workspace to work on throughout the week as well. Information about this is included in the email that will go out on Sunday evening.
Thank you for all you are doing to support your child(ren) during this time.
We will place a Google Doc inside your child's Language folder entitled 'Week of April 6th' by Monday morning and it will have all the things necessary for the week ahead.
Some parents have expressed interest in looking at a schedule for the day for their child.
Just a reminder that you are helping your child learn at home through this crisis. This is different than 'home schooling'. You may be trying to aid your child in learning while working from home, being concerned about your job, caring for your parents or neighbours and so many other variables. Your wellness and the wellness of your family is what's most important. Your child should do curriculum, along with physical activity, games and use of their imagination. You received information from the Board. If possible your grade three child should spend about 2.5 hours a week on math and 2.5 hours of literacy (French and English). We often send more than needed just in case. For those who are interested here are some schedules that were relayed to us from other professionals. Fifth Week of Lent Sunday marks the fifth week of Lent. Below is a video of this week's Gospel story where Jesus raises Lazarus from the grave. Growing in Faith Readings To Login go to Link above. We have sent out an email to all parents and we hope you are well. We are still awaiting more details about 'Learning at Home', so we have sent just a few ideas for this week. On Sunday evening, we will send out a Google Doc to your child's Language Folder entitled Week of March 30th. Please remember this Google Doc is just a guideline and suggestions for learning tasks that your child can work on throughout the week. There are no due dates or deadlines. We recognize that many of you are working from home and are balancing your time between your own work expectations along with guiding your child through their at home learning. This is not an easy task and we completely understand this. Please know that you, your child and your family’s wellness is what matters most. Included in the Google Doc "Week of March 30th" that will be in your child's Language Folder, will be a link to a Padlet where we are asking your child to create a short gratitude video for their teachers and friends to see. There will also be a link to a short instructional video for them to learn how to create and post their Padlet video. We're hoping that this will be a nice way for them to see their teachers and friends.

Our Lenten Project The Lenten project, Pollinating Against Poverty, will run from March 9th to April 9th. Students can bring in monetary donations to their homeroom classes. For every 25 dollars raised, the class will receive a honeybee that will be coloured to represent their team. Our contributions will provide a bee hive and all the essentials to start a beekeeping business that will be donated to a community in need in Africa. Let’s BEE community and get those donations in to build a better world. Thank you for joining the buzzz as we work together to share what we can spare. We have now entered into the second week of Lent. As a class and school community we have been spending more time in prayer during this Lenten season through "Praying In Colour" and other prayerful meditations. We are journeying with Jesus to the cross. Here is how our last week before the March Break looks at a glance. Religion: This week students will hear the Gospel from this past Sunday where Jesus brought some of his disciples to a mountaintop to pray. During this time God appeared to all of them and said "This is my beloved Son with whom I am well pleased; listen to him." Students will complete their "missionaries" research and prepare to present their new learning to their peers.
Math: *Problem solving with 3D shapes *Mental Math- Addition and Subtraction *Multiplication with arrays
Science: *Strong and Stable Structures *STEM challenge- Building Bridges Drama: *Narrative- Pirate Lee- acting out parts of the text using voice and actions Physical Education and Health:
*Fitness Stations *Badminton As we embark upon the first week of Lent, students will continue to reflect on the Lenten Promises they are focused on and will begin to journey with Jesus to the cross through their own "Lenten Road Map." Students will also hear the Gospel from this past Sunday when Jesus goes out into the desert to pray and fast for forty days. Students will reflect upon little things they could do for Lent. It's almost springtime. Time to open up the windows and let the fresh air into our homes. Well during Lent it's time also to open up, let God's words into your heart! Let your heart be filled with His presence. In spring it's time to also clean or clear out things in our homes. The clutter we've build up over the winter. Clean out our closets and put things away that we don't need. During Lent it's time to clear out the things in our lives we don't need that may get in the way of following Jesus. For example, watch less t.v., spend less time playing video games or going onto social media. In spring it's also time to plant seeds and watch them grow. During Lent it's time to grow the love in our hearts. It's time to do more good deeds. We will "Fill" one another's buckets when we see others "Being the Good News" and doing things that God would do for others. Lent is a time to fast and pray. A time to help those in need each day. You can do extra chores and lend a hand. You can thank God more for this beautiful land. Lent is a time to forgive someone For something they have said or done. It's also a time to see the good in others. The good that is in all our sisters and brothers. Lent is a time to walk with Jesus . Who is always there to love us and lead us. Let's help Him to carry His cross that is heavy. Let's do unto others and get our hearts ready!
Religion Beginning of Lent The season of Lent is upon us! On Monday students will hear the Gospel reading from Sunday where we are challenged to do our best to make sure our actions are like God's. One way be more like God is to not only love our friends but to forgive and love our enemies too. Students will explore the traditions behind Shrove Tuesday and will begin their Lenten journey on Ash Wednesday with a Liturgy in our "Holy Gymnasium." They will receive the holy ashes and will reflect upon what they will choose to do during their journey through Lent in a Lenten Promise. We will also continue building our knowledge on current day missionaries. Friday Outdoor Play Day
