Some parents have expressed interest in looking at a schedule for the day for their child.
Just a reminder that you are helping your child learn at home through this crisis. This is different than 'home schooling'. You may be trying to aid your child in learning while working from home, being concerned about your job, caring for your parents or neighbours and so many other variables. Your wellness and the wellness of your family is what's most important. Your child should do curriculum, along with physical activity, games and use of their imagination. You received information from the Board. If possible your grade three child should spend about 2.5 hours a week on math and 2.5 hours of literacy (French and English). We often send more than needed just in case. For those who are interested here are some schedules that were relayed to us from other professionals. Fifth Week of Lent Sunday marks the fifth week of Lent. Below is a video of this week's Gospel story where Jesus raises Lazarus from the grave. Growing in Faith Readings To Login go to Link above. We have sent out an email to all parents and we hope you are well. We are still awaiting more details about 'Learning at Home', so we have sent just a few ideas for this week. On Sunday evening, we will send out a Google Doc to your child's Language Folder entitled Week of March 30th. Please remember this Google Doc is just a guideline and suggestions for learning tasks that your child can work on throughout the week. There are no due dates or deadlines. We recognize that many of you are working from home and are balancing your time between your own work expectations along with guiding your child through their at home learning. This is not an easy task and we completely understand this. Please know that you, your child and your family’s wellness is what matters most. Included in the Google Doc "Week of March 30th" that will be in your child's Language Folder, will be a link to a Padlet where we are asking your child to create a short gratitude video for their teachers and friends to see. There will also be a link to a short instructional video for them to learn how to create and post their Padlet video. We're hoping that this will be a nice way for them to see their teachers and friends.

French Message from Mme Kelly & Mme Panetta Dear parent(s)/guardian(s), We hop you and your family are all safe and healthy during this time of great uncertainty. As school will be closed for the next two weeks, we have created a Hapara workspace for our Grade 3 French class. This workspace will serve as a great learning tool for students over the next few weeks. On the workspace you will find some French reading, writing, speaking, and listening activities/material. Please note that we will continue to add to this workspace, providing more curriculum based content in engaging and creative ways. To find our workspace please do the following: 1) Open up your browser of choice (ex: Safari, Google Chrome, etc) 2) Type: https://www.ocsb.ca/ 3) Click on JK-6 Student Portal 4) Scroll down to the icon titled Hapara (you can click the icon or beta student) 5) Type in student login information (same information your child uses to enter a school based chromebook). Our workspace will be titled "Grade 3 French". We pray to see the students and their smiling faces back in the classroom soon! Take care, Mme. Panetta & Mme. Kelly
Our Lenten Project The Lenten project, Pollinating Against Poverty, will run from March 9th to April 9th. Students can bring in monetary donations to their homeroom classes. For every 25 dollars raised, the class will receive a honeybee that will be coloured to represent their team. Our contributions will provide a bee hive and all the essentials to start a beekeeping business that will be donated to a community in need in Africa. Let’s BEE community and get those donations in to build a better world. Thank you for joining the buzzz as we work together to share what we can spare. We sent home a package for your child to work on during the two weeks after March Break. Please return it the first day back as we will consolidate the questions. Over the next little while your child can visit many of the sites on our 'links' section and many sites on the student portal to keep up with their learning. We have now entered into the second week of Lent. As a class and school community we have been spending more time in prayer during this Lenten season through "Praying In Colour" and other prayerful meditations. We are journeying with Jesus to the cross. Here is how our last week before the March Break looks at a glance. Religion: This week students will hear the Gospel from this past Sunday where Jesus brought some of his disciples to a mountaintop to pray. During this time God appeared to all of them and said "This is my beloved Son with whom I am well pleased; listen to him." Students will complete their "missionaries" research and prepare to present their new learning to their peers.
