Year End Field Trip We have planned a trip to Upper Canada Village on June 21st. Notes will go home shortly. We just wanted to give you time in case you wanted to come and had to book the day off of work or arrange daycare for younger siblings that day. All parents are welcome. All parents coming will have a small group of students to supervise for the day. We have a few free passes that we will 'raffle' off and there will be a few spaces on the bus for parents. Otherwise parents will have to pay the entrance fee on their own and travel to Upper Canada Village on their own as well. This is a wonderful way to celebrate your child's accomplishments in grade three and this trip relates to what the students are learning in French Social Studies. So be on the lookout for a note shortly.
Literacy
Religion:This Sunday marked the end of the Easter Season with the Holy Feast of Pentecost. Students will hear the Gospel from this past Sunday and reflect on how the Holy Spirit changed Jesus' disciples and how the Holy Spirit can transform us as well. EQAO begins tomorrow May, 22nd first block. Students will receive as much time as they need to complete the Math and Literacy tasks. Students will write on Wednesday, May 23rd and Thursday, May 24th as well as next week (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday).
Students will continue to have French second block. Throughout the rest of our day, we will focus on Science, Health, Drama and other curriculum areas. Science: *Nanabush- Researching the shelters made by brother animals and beginning to plan out blueprints to create animal shelters. Drama: *Reader's Theater *Puppet Shows- God's Promises Health- *Safety with medication *Healthy Choices- Decision Making Physical Education: *Skipping Routines *Track and Field Events- Long jump, running long jump, ball throw, relay races EQAO EQAO begins next week.On Tuesday, May 22nd students will begin writing EQAO. It is important that they arrive at school on time and well rested each day, so that they can be ready to put their personal best effort into the Literacy and Math questions they will be responding to. Students will only write EQAO during block one. That being said, they have as much time as they need to complete the questions assigned to them. We have had many conversations with students about EQAO. Our message to students is that it is not something to worry about. Rather it is an opportunity for them to show all of their amazing thinking and strategies! Students know it is their time to "SHINE" and demonstrate what they have learned since kindergarten! Thank you in advance for all your support during our EQAO testing days. We want students to know how proud we are of them for all of the critical thinking and character they show us on a daily basis! Best of luck as you "Show What You Know on EQAO!"
